Restaurante Kinoshita

Restaurant Kinoshita (3-37-1 Yoyogi, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo) – despite its name, this is actually a French restaurant, serving dishes such as home-smoked duck breast, roast quail, joue de boeuf (tender cheek of ox slowly simmered down in red wine) and soups like chilled vichyssoise, bouillabaisse and onion gratin. This, along with dishes that fuse both Japanese and French elements, such as jidori chicken with roast banana in a curry-flavored sauce sounds tempting; the fish dish hige-dara (grenadier) — prepared in a sticky sauce infused with dark sherry vinegar; and desserts like pistachio-flavored creme brulee with chocolate ice cream. Because of this 30-seat restaurant’s popularity and its reputation for being booked weeks (if not months) in advance, diners are advised to check if there are last-minute cancellations before proceeding.
